Speaking to News18, Dr Sarkar said that he was only in the video asking what the investigating agency was doing and trying to convince doctors to come to work.

Dr Kunal Sarkar, who was summoned by the Kolkata Police for allegedly “spreading misinformation” in the investigation into the rape and murder of Dr RG Kar, said he was being paid for his videos, adding, He did not identify the man.

Speaking to News18, Dr Sarkar said that he was only in the video asking what the investigating agency was doing and trying to convince doctors to come to work.

“This act of intimidation by the police is wrong. The entire medical fraternity is not taking this lightly. We are not murder suspects, why are they summoning us like this,” Dr. Sarkar questioned.

He called the August 9 case a “double rape,” saying the girl was raped and murdered and so was “our system.” “On this day, Hiroshima was also hit by an atomic bomb. We were very angry about what happened. It was also an atomic explosion of public morals. We were very happy in our place, but after this barbaric act in the hospital , our lives are shattered,” Dr. Sarkar added.

He also said people were “very disappointed” with the police's role in the RG Kar Medical College case. “This is not Tunisia. There is insecurity and anxiety. When we come home and see our children, we wonder if it will be our turn next. Our police are capable of solving any problem, but do they have a job? Every public institution is public property, so why is there such an atmosphere of corruption?

Expressing disappointment over West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Dr Sarkar said: “We had expectations from the Chief Minister but she has been forgotten. She understands people and she has defeated the Center twice. But people are immersed in sadness and disappointment. We thought she was with us, but she was not. “We expected her, she was always with the people, we called on her, she was the one who could comfort people and put the house in order. Good,” he added.

“We are not involved in politics. The work has to go on. The city is densely populated. We are protesting against the government, not the people. We are like the fire brigade,” said Dr. Sarkar.

Dr Sarkar and Dr Subhano Goswami were summoned for allegedly spreading rumors and revealing the identity of the female doctor.
