Claim: “Create hundreds of thousands of clean energy jobs for American workers, including IBEW [International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers] Install 500,000 to 500,000 charging stations across the United States.
Conclusion: Mostly wrong. As of May, they had built eight.
As part of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, President Joe Biden on Monday night claimed to have built 500,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
As of May 2024, two and a half years after the bill passed, only eight charging stations have been built.
As Breitbart News recently noted:
[Vice President Kamala] Harris has a record against which to measure her commitment [of 3 million additional houses in four years]The Biden-Harris administration has failed to build electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as promised in the 2021 infrastructure bill at a cost of $7.5 billion.
The target was 500,000; two and a half years later, as of May 2024, only eight electric stations had been built.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg interviewed by CBS News in May Facing the whole country Explaining why only eight of the promised electric stations have been built:

Buttigieg promised the rest would be built by 2030.
In theory this could happen, although it's doubtful. [Trump has promised he would roll back EV mandates on day one using executive action. –CCD Ed.]
in spite of, Biden can't take credit for the 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations. This is a promise that his successor, whether it is Harris or former President Donald Trump, must fulfill.
