The couple allegedly strangled the man, a relative of theirs, over an inappropriate relationship. With the help of accomplices, they placed the body in a barrel and threw it into the sewer.
Gurgaon police on Tuesday arrested a couple and their accomplice in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old man, whose body was found in a barrel floating in a drain three days ago, officials said.
The couple allegedly strangled the man, a relative of theirs, over an illicit relationship. With the help of their accomplices, they put the body in a barrel and threw it into the sewer, they added.
According to officials, the body was found in the IMT Manesar area on Saturday. It was found tied with a sari and showed signs of strangulation. Nothing was found on his clothes or drums that could help with identification.
An investigation was launched after an FIR was registered at IMT Manesar police station.
Police on Sunday said they identified the deceased as Ramparichan Sharma (27), a native of Madhubani district in Bihar and a resident of Begampur Khatola village.
They added that based on investigation, the police zeroed in on three suspects – Panchdev Thakur, his wife Indu and friend Chandan Thakur, all of whom hail from Supol district of Bihar and are currently residing in Bas Kushla village of IMT Manesar district.
In his confession, Panchidev revealed that Sharma was his relative and was allegedly having an illicit relationship with Indu. When Panchidev and his wife Indu found out about this, they planned to get rid of Sharma.

The next day, they hid the body in a barrel and transported it on a bicycle with the help of Chandan and dumped it in a drain, he added.
The interrogation of the accused is ongoing, the DCP said.
