A special court in Shamli district of western Uttar Pradesh on Thursday sentenced a man to 10 years in prison for raping a 15-year-old girl, a government lawyer said.
Justice Seema Verma of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) court also imposed a fine of Rs 45,000 on Javed, who is around 25 years old, the lawyer said.
According to district government lawyer Sanjay Chauhan, the accused broke into the girl's house in Kairana area of the district on June 7, 2020 and raped her while her family members were out doing personal work.
“In addition to the provisions of the POCSO Act, the judge also found the accused guilty under IPC sections 452 (dwelling trespass), 376 (punishment for rape),” Chauhan added.
