Doctors at Swami Himalayan Medical College, Dehradun, identified the condition as fetus within fetus, a rare developmental abnormality that occurs in one in 100,000 newborns. Pediatric surgeon Dr. Santosh Singh explained that initial examination suspected a mass in the baby, but X-rays revealed the presence of a developing fetus inside the baby's abdomen.
“The parents of the seven-month-old baby brought him here when his belly suddenly started to swell. During the initial examination, we thought there might be some abnormal masses in the baby's stomach.
“But when an X-ray examination was performed, it was found that there was a fetus in the baby's stomach. The information was informed to his family, and preparations for the operation began. After diagnosis, the fetus was successfully removed through surgery. The child is now recovering well and is in good health. very good.
