Central civil servants will exercise their right to decide whether to join the National Pension Scheme or the Unified Pension Scheme
The BJP-led Central government on Saturday launched the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). Central government employees will exercise their right to decide whether to continue participating in the National Pension Scheme (NPS) or join the Unified Pension Scheme. Likewise, the state government can also decide to adopt this new UPS module.
UPS will be applicable starting April 1, 2025. UPS will be applicable to all persons retiring under NPS from 2004 onwards.
Main features of UPS
- Guaranteed pension: 50% of the average basic salary received in the past 12 months before pension, and the qualifying service is at least 25 years. Applicable for shorter service periods, up to a minimum of 10 years of service.
- Family pension security: @60% of the employee’s pension before death.
- Minimum pension guarantee: @ After working for at least 10 years, you can receive a monthly pension of NT$10,000.
- Indexation for inflation: Dear Relief Regarding Assured Pension, Assured Family Pension and Assured Minimum Pension Dear Relief is based on All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW) (e.g. Active Employees)
