He said in his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' broadcast that his Independence Day appeal to one lakh young people without any political background to join politics has attracted widespread response and urged young people to enter public life to build a developed India and stronger democracy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday claimed that many things happening in India in the 21st century are strengthening the foundation of “Viksit Bharat”.
He said in his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' broadcast that his Independence Day appeal to one lakh young people without any political background to join politics has attracted widespread response and urged young people to enter public life to build a developed India and stronger democracy.
He pointed out that countless people from all walks of life joined the freedom movement despite having no political background.
“They were wholeheartedly committed to India's independence. Today, to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat, we need to rekindle the same spirit again,” he said.
He said that a large number of young people are willing to enter politics, and all they need is proper opportunities and guidance.
Modi said young people have written to him and responded to his appeal on social media. He added that they noticed that family politics inhibited new talent.
During the show, Modi spoke to several young entrepreneurs at the helm of different space start-ups, who highlighted their work. They praised the country’s growing and vibrant space ecosystem.
The prime minister said the youth of the country have benefited a lot from various reforms in the aerospace sector.
On the occasion, he noted that India celebrated its first National Space Day on August 23 to mark the first anniversary of its spacecraft's successful landing on the moon.
He highlighted the work done by different organizations and individuals to improve the environment and called for collective efforts in this area.
