The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken notice of a video of a protest rally against the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor on social media
Amid the outrage over the RG Kar incident, the West Bengal child rights body has taken notice of rape threats against the 11-year-old daughter of TMC MP and party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Banerjee is the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken note of a video of a protest rally on social media regarding the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
According to the group, someone at the rally was heard threatening to rape Abhishek Banerjee's daughter and a reward of Rs 10 crore was publicly announced.
“The criminal's despicable intentions and his indecent remarks in public constitute an insult to the underage girl's sense of humiliation and endanger her safety,” the commission said in a statement.
