Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan was on Tuesday appointed director general of the country's anti-terrorism force, the National Security Guard (NSG), according to a Personnel Ministry order.
Srinivasan is a 1992 batch officer of the Bihar cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Srinivasan as Director General of the Nuclear Suppliers Group from the date of joining the post to August 31, 2027 (i.e. the date of his pension), the order said.

However, the Center shortened his tenure on August 15 and appointed him as Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief.

After Prabhat took charge, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Anish Dayal Singh took additional charge of the National Security Group.
