The police have registered an FIR in this regard and arrested the persons involved.
Two women were harassed by a group of men near Sacred Heart School in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, late on Tuesday night. The same video went viral on social media.
In the heart-wrenching video, two cars carrying several men try to block and intimidate women on Mukani Road in Haldwani. It can be seen in the video that the vehicle the woman was riding in was forced to slow down by a black Mahindra Scorpio in front.
At the same time, a second car, a Hyundai Nios i20, came from the right, with two people sitting on the front door. Two men sitting on the car door can be heard shouting insults at women on the street.
“Just tonight, when I was returning with my female friend from watching a movie, two cars full of 10 men tried to block our way. The incident happened in Mukani near Sacred Heart School in Haldwani Road,” one of the girls shared a video of the incident online.
Detailing how they escaped, she said: “The second time, the men opened all the car doors and completely blocked us, but luckily a man in a scudi appeared and he tried to overtake them, which gave us Chance to escape. We managed to escape from there but a few minutes later they tried to do the same thing again.
“Is this the way to maintain peace and security in the city? Why are hooliganism increasing in the city? This has raised concerns about the safety and security of women in the state,” she said. She further requested the Uttarakhand Police Strict action was taken against the matter as it related to the safety and security of women living in Haldwani.

Soon after the disturbing video was released on Wednesday afternoon, police registered an FIR in the matter and arrested the man in the car. Two vehicles have also been impounded by police.

Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu said she was “dismayed and shocked” after learning of the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
“No civilized society can allow daughters and sisters to be subjected to such atrocities,” the president said, adding that “enough is enough.”
