A 15-year-old girl in Nashik committed suicide after being allegedly stalked and threatened by a 22-year-old man and his family, an official said on Wednesday.
The girl's mother lodged a complaint with the Nashik Road police station on Tuesday stating that Kalam Izhar Mansuri had been urging her daughter to marry him since 2022.
She alleged that Mansouri's mother and many other relatives had also threatened the minor.
Citing the FIR, the official said that the teenager took medication at home on August 23 as he could not bear the pressure.
The Nashik Road police initially registered a case of accidental death.
After receiving a complaint from the mother, they registered an FIR against Mansuri and nine others under Section 107 (abetment of suicide of a child or mentally unsound person) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
The police also preserved samples of the girl's viscera (internal organs), the official added.
