Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on Friday, during which he will address the Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2024 in Mumbai and inaugurate Palghar worth around 76,000 crore, his office said. The foundation stone was laid for the Wadwan Port project in Rs.
Prime Minister Modi will address the Global Financial Forum 2024 at Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai at 11 am, followed by a speech at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) at CIDCO premises in Palghar at around 1:30 pm for various developments The project was unveiled and the foundation stone was laid.
Wadwan Port aims to create a world-class maritime gateway that will facilitate the country's trade and economic growth by catering for large container ships, providing deeper draft and accommodating ultra-large cargo ships.
The Wadhwa Port, located near Dahanu town in Palghar district, will become one of India's largest deep-water ports and will provide direct connectivity to international shipping routes, reducing transportation time and costs, the statement said.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure, the port will have deep berths, efficient cargo handling facilities and a modern port management system.
He said the port is expected to create a number of jobs, stimulate local businesses and contribute to the overall economic development of the region.
The Wadhwa Port project incorporates sustainable development practices with a focus on minimizing environmental impact and adhering to strict ecological standards.
Once operational, the port will enhance India's maritime connectivity and further strengthen its position as a global trade hub, the statement said.
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 218 fisheries projects worth approximately Rs 1,560 crore, aimed at strengthening fisheries infrastructure and productivity across the country.
According to reports, these measures are expected to create more than half a million jobs in the fishing sector.
He will also launch a nationwide rollout of ship communication and support systems at a cost of about 3.6 billion rupees. Under the project, 100,000 transponders will be installed on mechanized and motorized fishing vessels in 13 coastal states and union territories in a phased manner.
The statement said that the ship communication and support system is an indigenous technology developed by ISRO and will help fishermen establish two-way communication at sea and also aid in rescue operations and ensure the safety of our fishermen.
Other measures the Prime Minister will initiate include the development of fishing ports and integrated water parks, as well as the adoption of advanced technologies such as recirculating aquaculture systems and bioflocs.
The projects will be implemented across multiple states and will provide critical infrastructure and high-quality inputs to increase fish production, improve post-harvest management and create sustainable livelihoods for millions of people involved in the fisheries sector, the statement said.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for important fisheries infrastructure projects, including the development, upgrading and modernization of fishing ports, fish landing centers and fish market construction.
This is expected to provide necessary facilities and sanitary conditions for post-harvest management of fish and seafood.
GFF is jointly organized by Payments Council of India, National Payments Corporation of India and Fintech Convergence Council. Around 800 speakers including policymakers, regulators, senior bankers, industry leaders and academicians from India and other countries will address over 350 sessions at the conference.
It will also showcase the latest innovations in the fintech sector. GFF 2024 will release more than 20 thought leadership reports and white papers, providing insights and in-depth industry information.
