The Puducherry Education Department has taken the initiative to involve students in dance and music activities. The department has launched a new program to this end, involving public school students, Local18 reported. Titled 'Isai Kudil', the program aims to familiarize government school students with dance and singing activities while studying. Bharatiyar University is a music institution in Pondicherry that gives priority to candidates' dancing, singing and music skills during admission. In order to better develop students' skills, the district's education department launched the program. It was developed to teach students the fundamentals of the above mentioned arts. Local18 reports that as part of the initiative, the department has created a music hut project at Chinnatha Government Girls High School in Muthialpet.
More than 50 musical instruments were purchased, including violin, veena, guitar, tambura, tabla, mridangam, parai, keyboard, drums and other instruments. These are kept in the lodge, where high school students will receive musical education and training. Assign a music teacher to teach. It is understood that the courses are held twice a week for 2 hours each time.
Local18 said the girls actively participated in the lessons and sang and learned instruments accordingly. Some even engage in music making. The initiative was supported by students and audiences. According to music teachers, separate syllabus will be provided for students. The music teacher added that after they pass class 12th, a new music scheme will be introduced which will include a mark sheet. The department plans to implement the program across the state.
