Formula 4 race in Chennai: Traffic will be affected at major locations in Chennai including Walaja Road, Annasalai, Kamarajar Road and EVR Road
As Chennai prepares to host India's first night-time street Formula 4 race, the traffic police has issued a series of advisories on road closures and diversions that will be in effect from August 30 to September 1. It will be held on September 31 and September 1 on a 3.5-km track around the Chennai Island Stadium.
Traffic will be affected at major locations in Chennai, including Walaja Road, Annasalai, Kamarajar Road and EVR Road.
The Chennai Metropolitan Traffic Police has announced that Munram, Muthuswamy Point and Paris Corner will be closed to heavy and light commercial vehicles from noon to 10 pm. The traffic police also said that Sivananda Salai Road and Kodimaram Road will be completely closed and vehicles heading towards Santhome from Kamaraj Road will not be able to take another route.
Vehicles traveling from Central Light to Anna Salai can travel as usual to Pallavan Road Junction, where one lane from Pallavan Road Junction to Periyar Salai has been converted into a temporary two-way lane.
Vehicles heading towards the War Memorial on Kamaraj Road may be diverted near the Labor Statue and travel via Walaja Road, Annasalai, Periyar Statue and EVR Road. Vehicles heading to Walaja Point on Anna Road will be diverted to Central Light Point on Pallavan Road.
The traffic police have also strictly enforced that vehicles are not allowed to travel from Muthuswamy Junction to Annasalai and Kodi Maarachala. Instead, they should take Pallavan Road, EVR Road, Central Railway Station and Periyamedu Gandhi Irwin to reach their destination.
