'Grave concern for society': PM Modi urges immediate action against crimes against women
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday raised the issue of women's safety for the third time in recent weeks, calling for immediate action against crimes against women and children. His strong remarks followed protests against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital and the sexual abuse of two four-year-old schoolgirls in Badlapur, near Mumbai. Addressing a national conference on district justice, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, atrocities against women, safety of children… are a serious concern of society.” Read more
Bangladeshi migrant beaten to death in Haryana's Chalshi Dadri for allegedly consuming beef
Earlier this week, a 26-year-old migrant from West Bengal was beaten to death by a mob in Haryana's Chalshi Dadri district over suspicions that he had consumed beef. The victim, named Sabir Malik, was lured to a local bus stop on August 27 under the pretext of selling scrap. Sabir was targeted by a group of people who accused him of eating beef, First Information Report reported. Read more

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has ordered an investigation after a Mi-17 helicopter was forced to crash while transporting a malfunctioning helicopter at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand on Thursday. An Indian Air Force Mi-17 was hoisting the defective helicopter and transporting it back when the two aircraft lost their balance in the Himalayas. Read more
