In the 18kg points category, Dhanvita Vasu Mogera from Bhatkalmundali emerged as the world champion. She was the daughter of Vasu Mogra and Bhavani.
Inorva Avani Suraj Rao, daughter of Suraj Rao and Sheetal Gowda from Karwar taluk, won the silver medal in the hardcore category of women's music format. She was trained by Nagashree Naikar, the chief instructor of Nagashree Martial Arts and Fitness Center in Bhatkar.
Two junior taekwondo athletes who have already won national championships also competed internationally this week at WAKO in Budapest, Hungary.
Traditional Martial Arts Academy students and their parents were excited and proud when Lyle Asari and Aiden Brummer received their SA badges ahead of international competition.
Aiden (15), a three-time SA point fighting champion, will compete in the senior cadet boys' U-63kg category in point fighting, light kicking and team events. This is not the first time a talented martial arts student has been selected to represent the country at an international event. He was called up to the national team for the first time in 2022.

The event brings together young athletes from around the world to compete in a variety of Taekwondo disciplines. This year, the Hungarian capital welcomed 3,100 young participants from 68 countries.
