There is some controversy surrounding Kannada. Locals often mention that their mother tongue is increasingly disappearing as more people from other states come to the state to work. In order to protect and preserve Kannada language, Bangalore Kannada Manasugala Tanda has taken proactive steps to save Kannada schools. The group has long worked to preserve their culture and traditions. According to media reports, they took the initiative to paint the century-old public school at their own expense.
Media reports also said that the Bangalore City team has selected two schools, namely the Government Kannada Model Primary School in Harugopa village in Belgaum district and the Government Higher Primary School in Shirebudh Nur village.
