According to reports, artist Devjyoti Mohra made a six-and-a-half-foot-long crown after traveling abroad to procure jewellery, to add variety to the outfits worn to celebrate Durga Puja 2024 in Dakshindhi Napur.
Reports say the artist from Baleghat is making the largest decoration for the Durga idol at Kachkara Club, one of the pujas with the largest budget in South Dinajpur district. The size of the crown is six and a half feet, the garland made for Goddess Durga is six feet and the jewelry is made of natural materials. Now, people from different places, including neighbors, flock to Dev Jyoti’s house every day to get a glimpse of this gem.
One of the attractions of Durga Puja 2024 is not only the construction of idols but also the decoration of the goddess. The news of Devjyoti Mohra, a well-known artist of South Dinajpur district, decorating the Durga idol has spread not only across the region or state but also abroad.
This time he made the largest goddess crown in the area. For this purpose, the goddess will transform from Shola into natural tools like Zari, Punthi etc. Various decorations are being made, including circle necklaces, seven-wave necklaces, bracelets and tiaras.
Balurghat artist Devjyoti is putting a lot of effort into making jewellery. But he was not alone; inspired by his work, more urban students came forward. Together they make the jewelry of Goddess Durga. They also became self-reliant.
Earlier, it was reported that the tallest Durga statue is being made in Kamalpur area of Ranaghat in Nadia district.
