Even if people gave in to this arrogant government coercion, the UK would not have the electricity to spare to charge hundreds of thousands of new electric cars.
A home electric vehicle fast charger consumes approximately 10 kilowatts. Plugging 500,000 electric cars into your home at dinner time will consume 10Kw x 500,000 = 5,000,000 Kw = an additional 5GW of electricity from the grid. The UK simply has no backup generation capacity.

The UK will face a power crisis by 2028 as guaranteed grid capacity will be less than demand, a new report says.
The capacity crunch will reach its peak in 2028, at 7.5GW, as the country retires old capacity faster than new resources can come online.
The situation is worsening due to increased power demand and delays at the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant, according to a report from power plant operator Drax.

Rich people are not affected by rationing of car sales – no car dealer in their right mind would refuse a hundred thousand pounds to sell a high-end car if all they had to do was tell an ordinary person to protect themselves from rationing penalties profit.
