The diversity of our country lies not only in the languages we speak, but also in the cuisine we regularly eat. Every state has its delicious dishes, especially those made in a specific region, that are popular throughout the state. Just like that, fried golibaje became a sensation in Mangaluru. According to Local18, the Balli Shop located on Ratha Street, Mangaluru is considered a paradise for golibaje (also known as Mangalore bajji). According to reports, they sold more than 5,000 fried snacks in one day. This store was opened by Rajesh Baliga in 1993 on Ratha Street. When the doors open at 11 a.m. every day, people line up for hours to get snacks. They also sell seasonal dishes like podi, pakoda, cracker roti, cabbage podi, sanjeera, buns, golibaje, chattambade, vegetable bonda etc. This store has a history of 31 years, but customers still come in an endless stream to buy snacks.
According to Local18, there has been an increase in the number of customers taking food home. They prioritize the quality of their food and aim to sell only the best to their customers. According to them, the food here is not too greasy, which is a huge compliment. After 5:30 pm, the store starts selling fried food, ensuring high quality and low price. Their cabbage bonda and sanjira have different fan bases, while golibaje is in another league.
