Speaking at the Singapore Business Leaders' Summit, Prime Minister Modi said: “Whenever India discusses 'paan', the discussion is incomplete without Varanasi. I am the MP from Varanasi.
“If you want to eat 'paan', then you have to invest in Kashgar,” he added in a light-hearted tone at a meeting with top executives in a unique message to the business community calling for global investment in India.
Banarasi paan, named after the Hindu holy city of Varanasi, is a famous delicacy that often appears on wedding menus. It has also made its way into Indian pop culture, including Bollywood movies, and has been referenced in mega-hit songs.
