Photovoltaic scheme collapses in harsh alpine environment… Solar panels on Swiss dam scheme failed after just two years.
Who cares if it works?
This is how the green racket usually works: Come up with some pie-in-the-sky project for green energy production, no matter how unfeasible it is, propose it to technically ignorant bureaucrats – who have no problem allowing and funding it – to build it It, upon realizing it would never work, abandon it and let the next generation deal with the mess. At the same time, you will make a decent amount of money.
The latest possible example of such a project is “Axpo in Glarus Süd”, described by Blackout News: “The solar panels at Mutsi Dam failed after two years – solar power plants are not suitable for mountainous areas.”
The Swiss Axpo Glarus Süd solar project includes the installation of solar panels on a dam in an ideal orientation.
The environment is extremely harsh
Hailed as a groundbreaking project, it is designed to have a lifespan of 20 years while providing green electricity to nearly 3,000 people (at least in the summer). But, as Blackout News reports: “Just two years later, considerable problems have become apparent. According to the Südostschweiz newspaper, about 270 of the approximately 5,000 solar panels installed were damaged.
Solar systems in harsh environments in the Swiss Alps? What problems might arise?
Of course, the builder and whoever approved the project had to be familiar with the extremely harsh winter conditions and heavy snowfall of the Swiss Alps, and this system never stood a chance. Apparently no one cares about reality anymore. It seems that the important thing is to grab all this green cash and store it.
Panel damaged after just two years
After only 2 years of operation of the Muttsee project, 270 panels (5%) needed to be replaced at a high cost. Just watch the Axpo promotional video and see what equipment is needed to set up the project. Helicopters, cranes, rigging and such highly qualified personnel do not come cheap.
So far I have found no data on the payback time for this project.
Another embarrassing fact: “The full extent of the damage became clear only when the snow at 2,500 meters above sea level completely melted,” Blackout News reported.
Did no one realize the damage until spring arrived?
