The Biden-Harris administration announced Wednesday that it is establishing a taxpayer-funded “environmental justice” job training program.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in partnership with AmeriCorps, is creating the Environmental Justice Climate Corps, a $25 million program to “open doors” for people seeking “environmental justice” careers , “environmental justice” is essentially a combination of left and left. “Our partnership is the first effort within the federal government to expand environmental justice career pathways,” EPA Administrator Michael Regan said of the new program. “This program will be implemented through President Biden’s America’s Climate Corps creates opportunities for young people and helps people in overburdened communities access and benefit from historic funding under the President’s Investing in America agenda.”
Regan and AmeriCorps CEO Michael Smith will discuss the new plan during an upcoming panel discussion at New York City's Climate Week, a weeklong summit attended by numerous other political and business elites, according to the White House.
According to the Associated Press, early versions of the U.S. Climate Corps did not join the IRA, largely because Republicans opposed it over concerns about its price tag. Some House Democrats have called for $132 billion for the IRA program before it is removed from legislation, and Biden initially planned to budget $10 billion for the program.
While the IRA ignored the plan, several Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts, have called for a Biden administration, according to the Associated Press. Sign up to establish the U.S. Climate Corps through executive action.
The EPA and the American Legion did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
