Former Vice President Al Gore expressed anger at “polluters” and asked people to listen to scientists on climate change while speaking at a United Nations climate change conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Speakers at the COP29 summit, which begins on Monday, have previously proposed taxing the meat and dairy industries and “climate finance” initiatives for less developed countries. Speaking at the conference, Gore claimed that climate scientists' predictions had been proven “totally correct.”
“The fact that the scientists who predicted all this decades ago have been proven to be absolutely right should make the rest of us pay even more attention to what they're telling us now!” Gore fiercely addressed the crowd, causing Cheers and applause from attendees. “Do we listen to polluters, who don’t want to do anything meaningful that might reduce fossil fuels, or do we listen to scientists, who keep telling us what needs to be done?” (Related: UN summit spokesperson claims “naming extreme heat events” will help combat climate change)

Gore claimed that 30 million tons of Greenland ice was melting within an hour of his speech, and he warned that melting ice could have catastrophic consequences for the oceans.
“This is freshwater flowing from Greenland into the North Atlantic, which involves a critical part of the ocean circulation system. It could be disrupted,” he said. “Some scientists disagree, but increasingly they are sounding the alarm.” (Click here to watch the Daily Caller documentary “Anarchy U”)
“If you look at the statement at the bottom, these peer-reviewed scientists in this peer-reviewed study say, 'We estimate collapse around the middle of this century.' What? What?” Gore continued. “The entire planet Some of the load-bearing elements of the ecosystem are at risk. What are we doing? Just walking away, walking away, without much progress.
