The regulations put forward to MPs today directly contradict Mr. Keir Starmer Earlier this month it was revealed that reducing greenhouse gas emissions does not mean Britons have to change the way they live.
The new target means that UK emissions should be reduced to 81% of 1990 levels by 2035.
At the Cop29 summit in Azerbaijan two weeks ago, the prime minister said he would not “tell people how to live” by reducing air travel or changing their diet.
But today leading members of the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) made it clear that achieving this goal will involve widespread “behavioral change”.

Is anyone else tired of the wartime austerity nonsense the Greens have been trying to foist on us?
Of course, none of this stops them from claiming that renewable energy is the cheapest option. In this case, why is rationing and austerity necessary?
