The Department of Energy (DOE) announced on Monday that it will delay the effective date of three Biden administration’s rules on home equipment.

“Under President Trump's leadership, the Department of Energy takes key measures every day to help American families flourish,” U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright said in a statement. [emphasis, links added]

“By removing the heavy regulations set by the Biden administration, we will choose to return freedom to the American people, Ensure consumers can choose the home appliances that best suit their lives and budgetsWright added. This power should not belong to the federal government. ”

The department is suspending the effective dates of three rules, including an update to the testing procedures for central air conditioners and heat pumps, which were completed in January.

It requires manufacturers to use modified tests to meet energy-saving standards.

DOE also postponed efficiency standards for walk-in coolers and freezers and instantaneous gas water heatersthe company completed in December, requiring the product to use less power when operating.

House members are expected to vote this week to overturn energy-efficient standards for walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers. Rep. Stephanie Bees (R-OK) is sponsoring the legislation.

Republicans have been using the Congressional Review Act in recent weeks to overturn many of the Biden administration’s climate and energy regulations.

CRA is a special legislative process that bypasses Filibuster. It allows simple majority votes in both meeting rooms to remove regulations.
