As I wrote at 10:45 a.m. on July 12, a small eddy between the Golden Gate and Stinson Beaches is disappearing. This satellite animation shows the current wind direction as the eddy disappears. Mild northwest winds are moving into the bay this afternoon as the eddy disappears.
with a maximum pressure gradient Towards Sacramento, we should see strong west southwest to southwest winds north of the Bay Bridge. But the northwest current helps the third type. Avenue.
The Channel should be windy, but there could be some combination of SSW winds on the Stockton Slope and Highway. A gap area of 92 would probably make it third. Ave. launch locations are sometimes uncertain.
But tomorrow, I expect an elongated counterclockwise vortex to affect much of the California coast.
