The Global Climate Finance Innovation Lab (the “Lab”) is proud to announce a significant increase in its membership. More than 100 outstanding public and private organizations are currently joining forces to accelerate climate finance innovation and drive private investment in emerging markets.
In 10 years, the Lab's membership has nearly quadrupled, from 29 organizations at the Lab's first meeting in 2014 to 110 global and regional members today. Private sector participation in the laboratory has increased steadily over the years, with private members now accounting for 55% of the total, compared with 41% in 2014.
This growth follows the lab's successful launch of regional programs in the Philippines, Latin America and the Caribbean. New regional team members from these areas join a growing network of experts from existing programs in Brazil, East and Southern Africa, and India. Additionally, the Lab welcomes new global members and strengthens its capabilities to identify and develop transformative financial instruments.
“We need to see bold ideas emerge and support the teams pursuing them. As new global members, we are very pleased to support the committee’s selection process Laboratory Issue 10 and contribute to the development of these great teams and efforts. The collaborative spirit among our members is a powerful force in meeting the climate challenge. Elvira Lefting, Managing Director, Finance in Motion.
A significant portion of the Lab's portfolio mobilization figures, which now exceed $4 billion, are the result of direct investment from its diverse members and broader network. The Lab continues to work collaboratively to unlock new opportunities and scale impactful climate finance measures globally.
“The Lab’s members are a core driver of the Lab’s success. Our member institutions bring a wealth of expertise, dedicated support and financial capital, enhancing the Lab’s ability to promote sustainable investment in emerging markets. Ben Broché, Deputy Director, Climate Policy Initiative, Who leads the work in the laboratory.
