Entergy Texas made significant progress overnight restoring power to customers in areas severely impacted by Hurricane Beryl. As of 9:30 a.m. Saturday, crews had successfully turned the lights back on for approximately 212,100 of the 252,460 affected customers, bringing the company's overall recovery completion rate to over 80%. Most customers with safe power are expected to have power restored by Monday, July 15th.
Entergy Texas completed 90 percent of damage assessments from Hurricane Beryl on Wednesday, with all damage assessments completed Thursday. Heavy rains, strong winds and fallen vegetation from Hurricane Beryl damaged 651 utility poles, 304 transformers, 855 cross arms and left 171 miles of downed power lines. Damage assessors remain on site looking for repairs not related to the outage and assisting with ongoing restoration efforts.
The chart below shows estimated recovery times for the hardest-hit areas following Hurricane Beryl.
A flood warning One is currently in effect for the East Fork San Jacinto River near New Caney, affecting Liberty, Harris and Montgomery counties until Saturday evening. Entergy Texas encourages all customers to remember the following tips regarding flood safety:
- Stay away from downed lines. If you notice a downed line, please keep your distance and call 1-800-9OUTAGE to report it.
- Avoid areas of debris as downed and energized power lines may not be visible.
- Do not walk or drive through flood water. Just six inches of water can knock you over, and a foot of water can sweep your car away. Additionally, the water may be energized from nearby downed lines.
- Use extreme caution when navigating flooded areas around power lines to ensure that the boat and its passengers do not come into contact with live lines.
