at last! Southern Wisconsin is finally getting some quieter, drier and cooler weather. While temperatures today are expected to remain in the mid to low 80s with humidity persisting, the cold front that passed this morning and (more importantly) the Canadian high pressure core that is expected to stabilize over the next 24 hours will kick in. To take effect over the next few days, most of the warmth and mugginess will disappear. As for the rest of the day, except for mostly clear skies, the temperature gradually dropped from 76° at dinner to 70° at 10 o'clock. As we start midweek, overnight low temperatures will drop all the way back into the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Wednesday looks absolutely spectacular. The morning low in Madison is 61 degrees, with temperatures expected to rise into the mid- to upper 70s in the southern half of the state under sunny to partly cloudy conditions. In fact, the same can be said for the rest of our extended forecast. The latest model data continues to indicate clear skies above with afternoon highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s through the end of the work week and even into the weekend ahead.
