Cosmetic restorations are not covered.
TEMPLE, Texas — Texans whose vehicles were damaged by severe storms and flooding between April 26 and June 5 may be eligible for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
To qualify, the damage to the vehicle must be caused by a disaster, making it unsafe to drive. Cosmetic restorations are not covered.
Other qualifications include:
– Assistance is limited to one vehicle. If there is a second functional vehicle in the household, the applicant must demonstrate in writing that the damaged vehicle is necessary for the daily use of the household.
– Vehicle must meet state registration and insurance requirements.
– The vehicle must be owned or leased (not leased) by the applicant, co-applicant or family member.
– The damaged vehicle must be of an approved type, such as a car, truck, SUV or van.
