LINCOLN, IL – Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop in central Illinois today, primarily south of the Taylorville to Danville line. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln has issued a scattered storm warning that could bring damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall. Cool, dry air is expected to follow, which will provide relief for the second half of the week.
The storm is expected to develop this afternoon and evening, peaking between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., according to the NWS. Residents are advised to remain alert and seek shelter indoors during adverse conditions.
Temperatures tonight will be between 65-72°F, with storms mainly south of I-70. Wednesday's high temperatures will be between 81-84°F, with a 30% chance of storms south of Interstate 70. By Thursday, temperatures will drop to 76-80°F with mostly clear skies, making for a pleasant end to the week. Friday's expected high temperature is 79-82°F, with clear and sunny conditions.
