PADUCAH — Severe weather left hundreds of community members without power overnight in the Local 6 area.
Nearly 1,500 members in Hickman and Fulton counties in Kentucky and Lake and Obion counties in Tennessee were affected by outages, according to a midnight release from Gibson Electric Membership.
Gibson EMC said in a 5 a.m. update that crews worked overnight to restore power, bringing the number of members experiencing outages to 22.
But in a follow-up, Gibson said the new outages reported Tuesday morning brought the total number of members without power to 332.
Members in northern Madison, Lake, Obion and Hickman counties experienced service outages, according to the release.
Gibson EMC said crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Monday night's storm brought wind gusts of 70 to 80 mph, prompting a rare damaging severe storm warning for Alexander, Ballard, Mississippi, Pulaski and Scott counties.
