Peoria, Illinois – Ameren, Ill., said it will take several days for most customers to get back online after Monday night's storm.
The utility said it was continuing to assess the intensity of the storm and the extent of the damage it caused.
As a result, Ameren said it expects about 80% of customers affected by the outage to be restored by 10 p.m. Wednesday.
As of 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, nearly 9,000 customers were still without power in Tazewell County, about 7,500 customers in Peoria County and nearly 700 customers in Woodford.

More than 8,800 customers in Tazewell County were left in the dark. And, Woodford County was in much better shape, with just over 600 Ameren customers without power Tuesday morning.

Peoria, Illinois – Amerlon, Illinois, outage map showed that as of 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, nearly 7,500 customers in Peoria County were still without power after severe storms hit central Illinois Monday night.
More than 9,250 customers in Tazewell County were left in the dark. And, Woodford County was in much better shape, with only 599 Ameren customers without power Tuesday morning.

PEORIA, Ill. — The Ameren Illinois power outage map at 6 a.m. Tuesday showed nearly 6,700 customers in Peoria County still without power after severe storms hit central Illinois late Monday night.
Trees and power lines were down. However, Peoria police said no streets were blocked Tuesday morning due to storm debris.
When darkness fell Tuesday morning, Tazewell County had just over 9,350 homes and businesses.
East Peoria police listed some of the blocked streets: 500 block Springfield Road – (I74, Muller Road), 400 block Cole Street – (Muller Road, Illinois Street), 300 block Pekin Avenue – (Rusche Street via Creve Coeur), Bloomington Road and Clover Avenue (Clover Ave or S. Pleasant Hill), Center Street and Cass Street and the 100 block of Fairview Avenue.
Not many Ameren customers were waiting for power to be restored in Woodford County Tuesday morning, with about 575 customers in the dark.
