If you don't water it, our lawns and plants will start to become brittle. I know it seems like we get a lot of rain, but in reality, it doesn’t rain enough in Boston.
Since this is the hottest period of summer, there is usually a peak in evaporation. So now that we've had a slight deficit in rainfall this month (0.73 inches below normal), we just need to keep watering our gardens and plants.
Early morning or late afternoon is the best time because evaporation peaks in the afternoon. Widespread rainfall is forecast for the middle of next week.
The temperatures have been very hot this summer, especially when the dew point is so high.
We had 13 days at Boston Logan Airport with temperatures in the 70s, 24 days with temperatures in the 80s and above, and eight days with temperatures in the 90s or above.
Even more impressive is the dew point temperature we just experienced was 70 or higher – for 15 days. Tied for the second longest history.
This weekend was also the first time in weeks that we had two dry days! The last time we had a dry weekend was June 1st and June 2nd.
Finally, this weekend will be perfect: warm, dry, low humidity. The only chance for showers is Saturday morning, ahead of a weak cold front.
However, our exclusive NBCU forecast system predicts very little accumulated rainfall. enjoy!
