Restoration in Montgomery County, Texas
Crews restore power to more than 90% of customers affected by Hurricane Beryl
Entergy Texas crews continue to work 16-hour shifts around the clock and have successfully restored power to more than 90% of customers affected by Hurricane Beryl. As of 9:30 a.m. Sunday, approximately 231,400 of the 252,460 customers affected by the storm had been restored.
Strong winds and heavy rains caused extensive vegetation damage to distribution lines, which was the main reason for the extended outages. Restoration crews are using special equipment to reach hard-to-reach areas and repair them as quickly as possible.
Most customers with safe power are expected to have power restored by the end of Sunday. Customers in the most affected areas are still expected to be restored by Monday, July 15th.
The time after a storm can be more dangerous than the storm itself. As with any weather event, Entergy Texas encourages the community to heed the following safety tips:
- Stay away from downed power lines. Please call 1 800-9OUTAGE or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or hanging power lines, damaged or downed utility poles or other damaged equipment.
- Do not trim trees or clear debris from or near downed power lines. Only power company workers or their contractors can clear trees or branches that are touching power lines. Again, stay away from downed power lines.
- Stay away from areas where workers are working. There are always dangers with mobile devices, as well as the potential for construction materials, limbs or overhead wires to fall to the ground.
- If you plan to use a generator for temporary power, Get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility power system before connecting to the main electrical panel.
