The following is the weather forecast for Saturday evening, July 20, 2024, from the Minnesota Weather Service and Meteorologist Matt Serwe.
A few scattered downpours are possible around the Twin Cities tonight. They last no more than 10 to 15 minutes, and the likelihood of lightning is low. The situation in the north is different, closer to a cold front. Scattered storms with lightning and longer-lasting downpours are more likely across central and northern Minnesota. Storms are likely to follow as the cold front pushes southward on Sunday. Isolated storms are possible along Interstate 94 Sunday morning. More scattered storms developed over the southern half of the state during the afternoon. On Sunday, these are more likely to keep you indoors for an hour or so.
Another wave moves through northern Minnesota on Monday, keeping most rain chances to the north. Highs will rise into the mid-80s and conditions will be dry this afternoon. Scattered storms return to the Twin Cities on Tuesday, bringing more downpours and possibly some small hail. We'll start dry stretching in the middle of next week. Wednesday will be cooler initially, with highs in the mid-70s. By next weekend, highs could approach 90° with higher humidity.
