Apart from Rumpa Das, other teachers who participated in this expedition were Prashant Singh and Subrata Ghosh.
Rumpa Das, an English teacher from Cooper Colony High School (Krishna Nagar, West Bengal), made headlines after conquering Ramjak Peak (6318m) in Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh news. According to Local 18 Bengal, Lumpa became the first Indian woman to accomplish this feat. She is one of the 3 teachers among the 12 members of the Krishna Nagar Mountaineering Association. Apart from Rumpa Das, other teachers who participated in this expedition were Prashant Singh and Subrata Ghosh. Prashant is a geography teacher at Bamun Pukur High School, Nadia, while Subrata Ghosh teaches at Kapashati Milanbithi High School (PS No. 170, North 24 Parganas). The flags of these three West Bengal schools are hoisted on Ramjak. The 12-member mountaineering team led by Everest conqueror Vasant Singh Roy arrived in Himachal Pradesh on June 30.
Vasant said that their hiking group set off on June 4 and arrived in Chuminakpo. According to Vasant, the hikers established a base camp at an altitude of 4,620 meters. Base camp is where people go to climb mountains. The team continued climbing and reached the first camp and then the second camp. A 12-member mountaineering team headed by Everest conqueror Vasant Singh Roy, including five members and three Sherpas, set out to reach the summit at 1 a.m. on July 10.
The names of other members are Asim Kumar Mandal and Yudu Debnath. They successfully reached the top of the mountain at 4.45am.
This team of Krishna Nagar Mountaineering Association is also trying its best to reach Ramjak Mountain in 2021. Their attempts were unsuccessful. Now, as this team reaches its peak, they are happy to see their efforts succeed.
Mountaineering is inherently risky and can be very dangerous unless the climber is properly trained. Climbers' skills, strength, balance, resourcefulness, courage and endurance are tested as they overcome difficult conditions and terrain. Many people also derive satisfaction from experiencing the splendor of nature.
