The 2022 update to the national curriculum places greater emphasis on teaching climate change in schools, but Dr White said this was limited.
“We are seeing an increase in opportunities to explore climate change education through this curriculum, primarily in 10th grade science and geography,” she said.
“Unfortunately, many students across Australia don't take science or geography in Year 10. So there are some challenges there.”
Teachers face backlash for teaching about climate change
Climate change also figures prominently in the curriculum in some states and territories, but Dr White said many teachers did not have the resources or were unwilling to include it.
“They are managing a variety of family attitudes. This comes through very strongly in the classroom,” she said.

I’ve spoken with parents who tell me they’ve embraced this strategy — telling kids the climate crisis is fake and then training the kids to lie to their teachers.
Teaching children to lie to their teachers at a young age is a terrible thing, but it's better than watching your children develop mental health issues because they believe the world is ending, or because they're constantly bullied by climate-mad teachers. Can” rotely memorize all the leftist green doomsday cult crap they've been fed.
